About Us
White Rock Concerts is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit arts organization established in 1956 to bring world-class classical music to White Rock and South Surrey.
We believe that classical music is an essential element in the cultural life of the Semiahmoo Peninsula. White Rock Concerts is committed to changing lives through music’s extraordinary power to communicate, inspire, uplift and entertain.
We celebrate artistic excellence in classical music through:
- live performance of the world’s great masterpieces
- promotion of Canadian artists
- a series subscription model without individual ticket sales
Artistic Directors
performances and imaginative, eclectic programming. Their recitals and concerto appearances have taken them across North America, Europe, and Asia, with performances in the United States, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, France, Greece, China, and Canada. They have appeared at major festivals including the Honens International Piano Festival, Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival, Festival of the Sound, Banff Arts Festival, Gilmore International Keyboard Festival, MusicFest Vancouver, Festival Miami, and EXPO 2000 in Hannover.
The duo has recorded extensively for CBC, National Public Radio, and several
German ARD stations, and has released numerous CDs on labels such as
Naxos, ARS, and Brilliant Classics. Their most recent album, American Stories
(ARS), features original arrangements by Marcel. Active as performers, educators, and artistic leaders, they serve as Artistic Directors of White Rock Concerts. Elizabeth is also Artistic Director of Concerts at the Langley Community Music School, while Marcel previously held theposition of Professor of Music at Mohawk College and is currently Composer-in-Residence at LCMS. Both have taught at Mount Royal University and the University of Calgary and have been involved in programs at the Banff Centre for the Arts. They also curate the popular Classical Coffee Concerts series across Vancouver’s Lower Mainland and beyond.
Trained in Hannover with Arie Vardi and in Montreal with Jean-Eudes
Vaillancourt, the duo are prizewinners of international competitions and maintain a repertoire spanning the baroque to contemporary, including many of their own arrangements and compositions.
